Campus Safety

Campus Safety aims to provide a safe and secure environment conducive to promoting a respectful and educational atmosphere.

Columbia College provides 24/7 security services through the Office of Campus Safety at our main campus in Columbia, Missouri. Using a combination of foot and vehicle patrols, safety officers are continuously visible on the main campus to deter crime. Campus Safety officers are non-commissioned yet responsible for maintaining a safe campus. Services at the main campus include but are not limited to:

  • 24-hour campus patrol
  • Round-the-clock safety escorts
  • Monitoring alarms and surveillance cameras
  • Responding to emergency situations on the main campus 
  • Reporting and documenting criminal activity on campus property
  • Fire system evaluation, testing and monitoring
  • Coordinating with law enforcement agencies and other emergency services
  • Safety/mechanical system monitoring for all main campus buildings
  • Disposing of hazardous material
  • Identifying, assessing and addressing possible safety hazards on campus property
  • Collecting lost and found property and maintaining inventory of items
  • On-campus parking enforcement

Campus Safety Officers can be reached at (573) 875-7315 or in person at the Hulett Family Campus Safety Office. The office is attached to the north wing of St. Clair Hall.  Safety and security concerns or related issues may be referred to Campus Safety personnel at any time.

The Director of Campus Safety oversees all safety and security issues on campus. The director is responsible for emergency management and ensuring reliable security services. The director acts as the liaison for all safety and security matters within the campus community. In addition, the director serves as the liaison with local law enforcement agencies concerning security incidents.

Parking permits

Campus Safety is responsible for enforcing parking regulations and managing parking permits on the main campus.

If you have selected and completed the eConsent agreement, register your vehicle and order your permit online.

Vehicle registration and parking permit purchases can also be made at the Enrollment Service Center in Missouri Hall room 205. You must complete a paper form at time of registration. You will need to provide vehicle make, model, year, color, license plate number and state for each vehicle.

Student right-to-know and Campus Security Act (Public Law 101-542)

The student Right-To-Know and Campus Security Act requires colleges to collect specific information about crimes and security on campus and to publish and distribute three years of data in an annual security report to current and prospective students/employees. Columbia College's annual reports are posted online.
